The restaurant focuses entirely on Japanese food;"It's the first thing you see, even before you taste it. "You have to make a colorful presentation. Sushi is art. You have to present it nicely." "I think it's all about quality, not quantity"
Although the small sushi bar — often manned by two sushi chefs — turns out many combinations, the menu includes a fairly large number of other Japanese foods, with special strength in the appetizer lists. One of the more interesting salads shreds surimi and cucumbers, tossing the thin strips lightly with mayonnaise (kani salad). The sushi assortment, listed as an entree, is an apt introduction to the sushi bar’s strong abilities, showing off the good quality of the seafood, the sushi rice and the attractive assembly of the two.
But it’s with specialty rolls that appearance is really tested.
It's the most common exchange I have with people regarding Dublin's latest Japanese restaurant. Oh, well, the restaurant delivers where it counts -- on the plate. Sushi.Com has an impressive catalog of designer rolls, using colors, textures and, yes, even fruit at times. The small staff couldn't be more friendly or approachable. Those who have been to trendier sushi places know that the chapter on customer service is missing from the handbook. But it's clear the place needs a liquor license to compete. While the food is largely satisfying, Sushi.Com doesn't seem like a complete experience without it. As for the name, don't tell your friends where you're going until you get there. It might save a lot of unnecessary explanation.
